• Portugal's election results were delayed as some 157,000 ballots cast from abroad were invalid for not being accompanied by an ID document. Citizens living abroad will need to recast their ballots, though it will not affect the final result, as the Socialist Party's António Costa collected a landslide of 119 seats in the 230-seat parliament.

• Portugal's Socialist Party came out of the elections with 117 seats, just enough to win the majority with just one seat above the 116-seat threshold. Support for the PS grew from 36.7% in 2019 to 41.7% giving them the outright majority in the 230-seat Assembly.
